Owner Description:
Ride in Cyprus Ltd is based near Lysos, 12 km SE of Polis on the road to Stavros tis Psokas and adjoining the Paphos Forest . There are spectacular rides from the stables in all directions. Forest tracks overlook the coast to the North West and mountains to the East. There are valley rides through volcanic rock formations and out onto the rolling plains where you can discover deserted Turkish villages. The scenery here is undoubtedly unparalleled in Cyprus.
Our team comprises six horses - Farouk, Bobby, General, Harry, Levantino and Eclipse. Most were bred for racing and this is their second career – Farouk, Bobby, Harry and Levantino look after novice riders, but will also enjoy a better rider who can ‘press their buttons' too! They are 16hh+ and 7 to 17 years old. Eclipse and General are for experienced riders.
They all love their job and work very well as a team. Groups are therefore small and intimate!
We also partner the herd to provide Horse Assisted Education - Leadership, Teambuilding, Personal Development and Soul Coaching. The programmes are profoundly effective at rediscovering core skills and developing the 93% of our communication which we already know is non-verbal. Horses give accurate, instant and non-judgemental feedback which challenges our behaviour and improves our clarity of purpose.
We have a permit from the Department of Forests to ride in the forest – so day picnic rides and overnight trips to Stavros (where you can stay in the hostel or camp) explore well ‘off the beaten track'. We often see wild Mouflon, various birds, butterflies, flowers and lizards etc.
The hotel nearby, Paradisos Hills, offers luxury accommodation for a centered riding holiday, as a base for the longer treks, or somewhere for the non riders in your group to chill out while you ride!
The longer treks are mainly during spring and autumn (March to May and mid Sept to Christmas) - day rides and hour/two hourly treks run all year, depending on the weather. The speed and route chosen depends on the experience of the riders and the condition of the ground. A mixed group will ride to the pace of the least experienced, but every effort is made to keep your group private for your maximum enjoyment.
We look forward to meeting you.
