The Finikoudes beach is located in the center of Larnaca, just on the seafront and is considered one of the most famous beaches of Cyprus. "Finikoudes" means in Greek, βsmall palm treesβ (which now grew up and became big trees) and were planed almost a century ago in 1922. The beach of fine gray sand is 500 meters long and its width ranges from 30 to 100 meters. The place is known for its cafes, bars, restaurants and hotels. Also in the area near the beach are several small grocery stores and kiosks. The local shopping center is located behind the promenade. Along the palm trees are flowers planted in flower beds and ad a sense of beauty to the already beautiful scenery.
The beach offers various amenities such as toilets, showers, changing rooms, access for people with mobility problems, beds and umbrellas, water sports, trained lifeguards with proper lifesaving equipment and first aid. The beach access is easy and safe by bus, by car or on foot. Near the beach there are many car parks. The sea is clean and the water quality complies with EU regulations (Bathing Water Directive). Usually the water is pure and has gentle waves.
